Making Education Available for Those Eager to Learn

Nov 4, 2025 | News

The application window for a variety of educational scholarships administered by the Battle Creek Community Foundation (BCCF) and the Battle Creek College Access Network (BCCAN) opens on December 1st–not just for high school students, but also for adult learners, post-graduate education and vocational and trade programs.

More than 350 different scholarships are available annually. Post-secondary scholarships are for education and training after high school or G.E.D. completion.

Special-assistance scholarships are broader offerings that any adult may pursue at any stage of their work life, especially if seeking a fresh start or a different field of interest. These include apprenticeships for skilled trades, retraining to overcome under- or unemployment, pursuing a career working with the elderly, and other opportunities.

Scholarship eligibility criteria varies widely, including offerings for first-generation college students. To read about these and the many other scholarships, visit https://www.bccfoundation.org/scholarships.

“For every Battle Creek area resident who seeks advanced learning, there are scholarship opportunities–and we are here to help make the process easy and fruitful.” said Joann Farnham, Senior Program Officer and Executive Director of BCCAN.

BCCF’s scholarships team can help connect students with mentors, guide applicants on paths to pay for educational opportunities and offer additional resources to guide applicants’ journeys.

BCCF processes nearly 14,000 applications annually from more than 900 applicants.

In the past year, $3.2 million in scholarships were awarded to area applicants. Scholarship applications open December 1, 2025 with a submission deadline of March 1, 2026.
