Frequently Asked Questions
Who can establish an Organizational Endowment?
A nonprofit public charity with 501(c)(3) status. Donors may also create a Named Organizational Endowment for your benefit.
What is the recommended annual distribution?
How are organizational vs. third‑party gifts reported (FASB)?
Per FAS 136, organizational contributions are booked by BCCF with an offsetting liability to your agency; third‑party contributions are BCCF net assets. This is for audit presentation only and does not change your fund’s use or purpose.
Are gifts revocable? Who controls distributions?
Can we defer or redirect our annual distribution?
Yes. Distributions run automatically each spring. You may elect to have the distribution retained in an Organizational Support Fund (invested and fully accessible later).
Standards & Accreditation
Organizational Endowments held at BCCF may reference BCCF’s status as Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® in approved formats.
